howdy, i realize this is a total shot in the dark but i'm passing through tomorrow (june 6) and would love to get an urbex fix. any chance anyone else is looking for someone to go out with? i've done a dozen or so sites in chicago www.flickr.com/photos/spf3million/collections/72157615266100975/ (so you'll know i'm not a total noob) anyway, i've been looking through what i can find on flickr and here solvay, af gallun, sprecher i'd be down for any of those or somewhere new too, its all new to me. i don't need a guide or anything just someone else to explore with. if not, would someone mind giving me some specific locs via email spf3million@gmail so i won't be wandering around the best parts of town lost. i'd be happy to go out with anyone coming to chicago this summer too or at least direct people to some cool places.

cool. are you staying the night in milwaukee, or just here for a few hours? night is better for most of the locations here that are available at the moment, but maybe I can make something happen. I'll get back to you here ASAP.

no, i'm spending the night in kohler (sheboygan) where my friend lives. i can get there any time (i wake up at 4 for work normally anyway so getting to there before sunrise wouldn't be much of a stretch) but will probably need to be leaving by 3pm or so at the latest. do you guys prefer night just because sites are too exposed? i've pretty much always done day explores, no problems. i dont have any flash equipment so shooting at night would be tough.

right now i'm looking at stopping off in kenosha to report on that theater i saw a thread about, the peter cooper glue factory on the south side, and solvay although it doesn't look like there's much left of it. thoughts on that itinerary? got other ideas/places you'd rather see/would like to go? don't feel obligated to come out if you have plans or anything, i just figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

yea, idk if I'll be able to make it, but deffidently check out peter cooper and the rest of carollville. I'll pm you with more info on the location, so that you're not walking in blindly. You could try slovay, but it's watched quite a bit by police, and there's rumors that the owner lives on site (if he does, he lives extremely sparingly...), and idk about the theater, so can't help out much there. Maybe if you're lucky, they'll be working on it, and just let you in to take some pictures if you ask.

ended up just doing carollville, my nerves were fried after doing the 3 or 4 buildings in the vicinity. i'll post my pics when i get done working them up. i drove past solvay on my way through milwaukee, looks like access is ridiculously easy. i'll be back sometime this summer, maybe next weekend. thanks for the tips sgmario, good call on the parking spots and way in

well, glad you enjoyed yourself. Sorry couldn't make it- had friends from out of town. If you pass through again, give a shout here, and see if I'm around!
