I am creating this forum after its creation has been suggested to me by several other explorers. From what I have been able to uncover, milwaukee used to have fairly sized exploring population, usually grouped into pockets, but never fully connected. Much of that has died down now, and it seems that there are only unique individuals or small groups of friends. My hope with creating this forum is to encourage a more community-orientated exploring group, rather than alienated pockets like milwaukee has always known. Other cities in the midwest have tight communities, so why shouldn't Milwaukee? There isn't a lack of locations- just a lack of communication. The more that information is shared between those who should know, the more plentiful and enjoyable the final result will be. Better locations, more information, more history, more photo opportunities, more updates, more security information, and more people to share memories and experiences with. That is why I am creating this, and I hope that this is only the first step in placing milwaukee back on the map for exploring in the midwest.

Great ideals, but be careful what you wish for. MSP is the perfect example. When it becomes mainstream, either because you encourage it or it just does, you know what happens from talking to people there. A shitstorm will arise. But I'm all for it in small doses.

I don't expect milwaukee to become like MSP, as milwaukee isn't built on swiss cheese- but even still, if this forum is around for 6 months, and we get people talking, even if it goes down, it will have served it's purpose. At least we can all start communicating a bit, and it will go from there.
